Valley Furniture & Interiors warehouse in Redmond, Washington
“Family comes first.”
— Scott Bergevin, Owner

Welcome to Valley Furniture & Interiors! Opened in 1966 by Keith Bergevin and family owned and operated ever since, Valley Furniture & Interiors has become the Seattle area's premier "boutique-style" design firm offering award winning interior design services and fine furnishings.

Inspiration in Paris

Keith Bergevin grew up in Walla Walla, WA and studied horticulture and agriculture at Washington State College before leaving home to serve in the Army during WWII. During the war, Keith was an Army Intelligence Officer stationed in and living at the U.S. headquarters in Paris, which was located in one of the most beautiful and majestic buildings in all of Paris, Le Petit Palais.

It was during this time that Keith's appreciation for French architecture and design began to develop. When he returned home from the service he completed an additional degree in interior design and began working as the buying assistant in the interior design department at The Bon Marche. This is where he met his future wife, Joan, who was a design student working for school credit in The Bon's drapery department.

A Gamble on Redmond

In March 1966, Keith Bergevin opened Valley Furniture & Interiors with his business partner, Frank Hammack, at its current location at 8200 164th Ave. NE in downtown Redmond, WA. In 1966, Redmond had one main road, one stop light and very little retail business but Keith and Frank were willing to gamble that Redmond was the right location to start their new business – and time would prove them right. Sadly, less than two years after opening, Frank passed away unexpectedly leaving Keith with the difficult task of building up the new business alone. Determined, Keith and Joan forged ahead with their fledgling business. After a few years and with much help from their two sons, Jay and Scott, and Joan's sister Dorothy, Valley Furniture began to flourish.

By 1980, Valley Furniture & Interiors had evolved into a furniture store, design firm and purveyor of antiques with a reputation for excellence. At this point Keith and Joan were no longer able to fulfill the growing requirements of the business while maintaining the level of customer service that they wanted to provide. Jay agreed to leave his job with an accounting firm to manage the day to day operations at the store. In 1982, it was time to expand and Scott agreed to close his landscape design firm to open a satellite store at The Kirkland Park Place. From that point on Jay and Scott successfully co-managed Valley Furniture for 25 years building it up to what it is today.

Valley Furniture Today

In the spring of 2007, Scott became the sole owner and operator of Valley Furniture & Interiors; Jay began a new career in commercial real estate with Wallace Properties; and Joan and Keith continue to support Jay and Scott in any way they can.

Scott and his wife Janine, a highly accredited and talented interior designer in her own right, welcome you as they continue the legacy that Keith and Joan began almost 45 years ago.
